The packaging world is changing quickly as advanced robotic packaging systems redefine how products are packed, sorted, and shipped. A modern robotic packaging line delivers major gains in speed, precision, efficiency, and labor savings, bringing next-generation automation into real daily operations.
Why Robotics? Why Now?
Companies are under increasing pressure to move faster while staying flexible and keeping costs low. Manual labor alone can’t keep up, especially with demand for customized packaging and shorter turnaround times. Robotic packaging solutions could be the answer. Not only do robots excel at repetitive tasks, but they can also adapt quickly between formats with minimal downtime.
In fact, according to Fortune Business Insights, the global packaging robotics market is expected to grow from $6.78 billion in 2024 to $17.90 billion by 2032, at a CAGR of 13.1%.
From Hands-On to Hands-Free
On the production floor, packaging robots handle everything from placing products into cases and cartons to labeling and palletizing. Unlike traditional machinery, today’s systems use real-time sensors that enable them to work smarter, not just harder.
This is especially important for industries like food & beverage, where up to 94% of packaging operations now rely on robotics for cleanliness and precision (source). Robots deliver consistent quality and help minimize errors.
Smarter Systems, Not Just Faster Ones
It is about smart packaging automation and the advantages of a modern robotic packaging line. These robotic packaging systems can adjust on the fly based on product data, identify issues before they cause delays, and even reduce waste. Some systems can even predict equipment failures or suggest maintenance before a breakdown occurs.
Collaborative robots, or cobots, are also steadily gaining acceptance. These packaging robots are designed to work safely alongside humans, boosting productivity while maintaining workplace safety.
Our Perspective at CPS
At Creative Packaging Solutions, we’ve been integrating robotics into packaging lines for over a decade. We understand that success in today’s competitive environment demands speed, precision, adaptability, and reliability.
Our work spans industries like pharmaceuticals, food production, and contract manufacturing. We collaborate closely with all our partners to build automation strategies that aren’t just cutting-edge but tailored and evolve with your needs.
Staying ahead means never standing still. That’s why our team is continually exploring, training, and implementing the latest in robotic packaging technology.
Industry 4.0: The Bigger Picture
What ties all this together is the Industry 4.0 movement—the integration of connected devices, data analytics, and machine learning across the production process. Packaging robots today are often part of a larger network, one in which machines communicate, share performance data, and make real-time decisions.

Real Results, Tangible Gains
Freshpet needed a reliable way to display product information on all four sides of every case in its new Plant 2 facility, but standard labeling equipment wasn’t enough. They turned to Creative Packaging Solutions to engineer a solution that blended accuracy, durability, and operator ease—all within a fully integrated robotic packaging line. By selecting ID Technology as the equipment partner and leading system design, software interface development, and OEM coordination, Creative Packaging Solutions delivered a streamlined setup featuring advanced robotic packaging systems, stainless-steel construction, and Cognex vision verification. With the Freshpet engineering team focused on the facility build, Creative Packaging Solutions handled the technical details to ensure the new robotic packaging machinery performed flawlessly from day one.
The completed system includes dual ID Technology Model 255 applicators with Sato print engines, custom conveyors, an Allen-Bradley PLC, and an HMI-driven recipe structure that allows operators to switch between case sizes quickly. Two identical systems were installed in Plant 2 to support multiple lines, each designed to maintain speed, accuracy, and uptime in a high-volume environment. Creative Packaging Solutions attended the FAT, supported installation, and handled start-up and commissioning, ensuring Freshpet received a dependable, high-performance solution built around packaging robots, automation robotic packaging, and long-term operational reliability.
